Kamineni Institute of Dental Sciences stands at Sreepuram, Narketpally, in Nalgonda District, on the national highway between Hyderabad and Vijayawada. It is 86 km from Hyderabad, 190 km from Vijayawada and 18 km from Nalgonda town.
The college belongs to the Kamineni Education Society, founded by Sri Kamineni Suryanarayana: technocrat, educationist, philanthropist and visionary. He chose a rural, underserved corner of Nalgonda on purpose. The college exists to bring good dental care to the people here and in the neighbouring districts, and to train dentists who understand village communities.
Our doors are open to students from every background, and our results show that access and quality can go together.
Learning by doing. Our teaching has moved away from the lecture hall and towards active learning: clinics, hands-on practice, and technology-supported methods. Alongside academics, students take part in sports, the arts and community work, building the skills and values to practise anywhere in the world.
Research that starts at home. Research and outreach are part of everyday life here. Our staff and students study problems the region actually faces, such as dental fluorosis, which is common in Nalgonda’s groundwater. Through regular camps and extension programmes, our students learn that a dentist serves the community and not only the patient in the chair.
A campus with everything in reach. The 9.66-acre campus has lawns, flowering gardens and clean air. Next to the dental college is a super-speciality teaching hospital with more than 1,300 beds, which our students also train in. The campus also has a library with digital resources, a central computer centre, auditoriums, hostels, staff quarters, and sports and games facilities.
Run as one team. The Principal leads the college with the Staff Council, the Heads of Department and several committees. Planning is open and shared, so every department has a voice.
