About the department
Prosthodontics and Crown & Bridge is the specialty concerned with restoring and replacing missing or damaged teeth and oral tissues, so that patients can chew, speak and smile comfortably again. Treatment ranges from complete and partial dentures to crowns, bridges and implant-supported teeth, and includes replacing parts of the face lost to disease or injury.
The department teaches undergraduate students the planning and making of dentures, crowns and bridges, in the laboratory and in the clinic. It also trains postgraduate students for the MDS degree in this specialty, who treat patients under the supervision of the faculty and carry out research for their dissertations. The department has its own dental laboratory, where prostheses are made for its patients.

For many of our patients, especially older people from the villages nearby, a well-made denture means eating properly again. We restore smiles with dentures, crowns, bridges and implant-supported teeth, made with care in our own laboratory, and teach our students that in this work the detail is the treatment.
