BDS, year by year

  1. I BDS

    How the body and the teeth are built: anatomy, physiology, biochemistry, dental anatomy and dental materials.

  2. II BDS

    Disease and medicines: pathology, microbiology and pharmacology, with preclinical work on models in prosthodontics and conservative dentistry.

  3. III BDS

    General medicine, general surgery and oral pathology, and the first patients, seen under supervision in the dental clinics.

  4. Final BDS

    The clinical subjects: treating patients in every dental department, from fillings and extractions to dentures and braces.

    A year of compulsory rotation through every department, and outreach camps in the villages around Narketpally.

  1. 1 Prosthodontics and Crown & Bridge Replacing missing teeth: crowns, bridges, dentures and implants. 6 seats
  2. 2 Periodontology The gums and the bone that hold the teeth. 6 seats
  3. 3 Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Surgery of the mouth, jaws and face, from extractions to fractures. 6 seats
  4. 4 Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics Saving teeth: fillings, root canal treatment, microscope work. 2 seats
  5. 5 Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics Straightening teeth and guiding the growth of the jaws. 3 seats
  6. 6 Pediatric and Preventive Dentistry Dental care for children, and stopping problems before they start. 2 seats
  7. 7 Oral Medicine and Radiology Diagnosis and imaging: every new patient starts here. 2 seats
